What is huayna capac?

Huayna Capac was the eleventh Sapa Inca (emperor) of the Inca Empire, ruling from 1493 until his death in 1527. He was the son of the previous emperor, Túpac Inca Yupanqui, and the father of two future emperors, Huascar and Atahualpa.

During his reign, Huayna Capac expanded the Inca Empire to its greatest extent, conquering large territories in present-day Ecuador, Colombia, and Chile. He also oversaw the construction of many temples, roads, and other infrastructure projects throughout the empire.

Huayna Capac's reign was marked by various rebellions and conflicts, particularly between his two sons, Huascar and Atahualpa, who vied for the throne after his death. This power struggle ultimately led to the downfall of the Inca Empire, as the Spanish conquistadors, led by Francisco Pizarro, took advantage of the internal strife to conquer the empire in the early 16th century.

Despite the ultimate defeat of the Inca Empire, Huayna Capac is remembered as one of the most powerful and influential emperors in Inca history. His achievements in expanding the empire and building its infrastructure laid the foundation for the Empire's golden age.
